Hawthorns were approached by Loughborough University Drama and English Department to design and install technical solutions for the upgrade of the Drama Studio, a new Rehearsal/Performance Studio and a Recording Studio.

HAWTHORN'S SOLUTION
PHASE 1
In the Drama Studio we upgraded all the technical facilities, replacing the existing old dimmers with ETC sensor dimmers and by designing and installing a new sound system comprising a Yamaha LS9 digital mixer, Martin Audio speakers and the relevant flexible infrastructure. Along with lighting and sound in the Studio Theatre, Hawthorns also provided an HD video projection system along with relevant interfaces and switching.
The Rehearsal Studio consisted of a small lighting system of 18 ways of Zero88 Beta Pack dimming, a small self powered sound system and video projection. The recording studio was designed as a digital recording and editing space utilizing a Yamaha LS9 Digital Mixer, Pro Tools digital editing software and interfaces controlled by an Apple Mac Computer.
The project was undertaken over a twelve week period and was designed, installed and project managed by Hawthorns.
HPHASE 2
Hawthorns were appointed to provide the specialist theatrical design and installation for the updated and redesigned Martin Hall Theatre.
Facilities and services provided included a motorised flying system, lighting infrastructure and control, a new sound system with infrastructure and control, video infrastructure and control, general house and teaching lighting, front of house and back stage paging systems and new stage drapes and track.
The installation was undertaken over a 16 week period and was completed within budget and on time.
